CORROSION OF CONFORMITY - BLIND Singer: 'The Chemistry Is Just Right This Time'

March 12, 2009

Karl Agell, who sang on the classic CORROSION OF CONFORMITY (C.O.C.) album "Blind" (1991),recently spoke to Yes! Weekly about his reunion with founding C.O.C. member Reed Mullin (drums) in a new project called CORROSION OF CONFORMITY - BLIND. The group, which will perform the entire original version of the "Blind" LP, also features Scott Little from Agell's band LEADFOOT, and Jason Browning and Jerry Barrett, both of whom were previously in BAD BRAINS singer HR's solo group.

"We tried a couple of different times to get this going and it didn't click for various reasons," Agell said. "We all seemed to have different things going on, but the chemistry is just right this time."

Though Agell and Mullin both have musical roots in Raleigh, they chose Winston-Salem as the new project's first gig for a very good reason. Mullin credits the heyday of seminal local venue Ziggy's for fostering a scene benefitting harder, edgier music, which allowed CORROSION OF CONFORMITY to prosper and grow their fan base. It also gives them an opportunity to work out any kinks that may arise from never having performed as a unit before hitting their native turf. "The hometown can be pretty ruthless," Agell smirked. "Whatever helps us be more prepared for that."
